While Russia operates a number of indigenous unmanned platforms, the bulk of its inventory at the small unit level is largely retrofitted or even unmodified commercial SUAS of Chinese manufacture. Russian commanders have quickly integrated the capabilities of these systems to magnify the effects of the traditional Russian focus on overwhelming artillery, making even inexpensive systems a significant danger on the battlefield.
Like other forms of remotely operated vehicle, Russian drones require an operator to 
focus and 
signal each turn, and may relay information and move otherwise.
